reegle - the “information gateway for renewable energy and energy efficiency” is a one-stop-shop for high quality up-to-date information on clean energy policy, with a core objective of supporting the global advancement of energy efficiency and renewables. The website facilitates fast access to constantly updated information for politicians, project developers, companies, municipalities, banks, credit institutes and for all those interested in this issue.

reegle uses state of the art technology and derives its content from evaluated and preselected databases covering the following areas related to renewable energy and energy efficiency:

  • Policies & Measures
  • Finance & Investment
  • Reports & Analyses
  • Latest News
  • Stakeholders

reegle is a joint project between the "Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Partnership" (REEEP) and the Renewable Energy Policy Network for the 21st Century (REN21). It is further supported by the Dutch Ministry of Housing, Spatial Planning and the Environment (VROM), the British Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra), the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety of Germany (BMU) and the Austrian Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Environment and Water Management (Lebensministerium). reegle Functions

reegle is made up of three main components: the “Actors Catalogue”, the “Search by category” and the “Intelligent Search”.

“Actors Catalogue”

reegle’s “Actors Catalogue” is a directory of organisations involved in renewable energy and energy efficiency. It contains information on, and links to, over 700 initiatives, partnerships and organisations involved in renewable energy and energy efficiency. The Catalogue also includes information about the focus, geographical reach and projects of the various Actors.

“Search by Category” ("Basic Search")

reegle’s “Search by category” allows the users to find information on specific sectors, countries and types of information. It makes available a full range of information related to renewable energy and energy efficiency including juristiction & laws, policies & measures, finance & investment, reports & analyses and latest news. This information is made available through a special categorisation system of renewable energy and energy efficiency.

“Intelligent Search”

reegle’s “Intelligent Search” provides closely related topics to help the users refine their searches. This feature is based on a "Mind Map" which was created using state of the art technology and derived from interviews conducted with high level experts on sustainable energy. This enables reegle to help the users to broaden or narrow down their searches. The "Intelligent Search" will go live in spring 2007.
