The Louisville Metro Department of Corrections is the agency that operates the detention center (jail) in Louisville, Kentucky.
Organization and Rank Structure
[edit]Most jails in Kentucky are led by an elected jailer; however, Metro Corrections is led by a Director, who is appointed by the Mayor of Louisville Metro. Mark Bolton is the current director. Under the director is a Deputy Director who serves as chief of staff. A second Deputy Director reports to the COS, and oversees Community Corrections and Programs. A Major is also under the COS; they are responsible for operations at the "mega jail" complex as well as two secondary sites.
The ranks in LMDC are as follows:
Title | Insignia |
---|---|
Director | |
Deputy Director | |
Major | |
Captain | |
Lieutenant | |
Sergeant | |
Officer | NONE |
Locations
[edit]The main jail is located at the corner of 6th and Jefferson Streets in downtown Louisville; LMDC headquarters is located here as well. The Community Corrections Center is located on Chestnut Street, across from Kosair Childrens Hospital. Additionally, LMDC operates a holding area in the Hall of Justice, across Jefferson Street from the main jail, and a small detention area on the third floor of Louisville Metro Police Department headquarters, although this site is rarely used due to habitability concerns. LMDC's Training Academy is co-located with the LMPD Academy on Taylor Boulevard.
Authority
[edit]Corrections officers in Louisville are considered full-time, sworn law enforcement officers. END OF LMDC ARTICLE

Recent History
[edit]CES was formerly known as Greenacres Elementary School; their name was changed when the former George Rogers Clark Elementary School on Stansifer Avenue in Old Clarksville closed, leaving Greenacres the only CCSC-operated elementary school. (Parkwood Elementary School, in Clarksville's north side, is operated by Greater Clark County Schools.) To accomodate GRC's students, the fifth grade was moved to Clarksville Middle School.
