Batakundi or Battakundi (Northern Hindko: بٹہ کنڈی, Urdu: بٹہ کنڈی) is a famous tourist town located near Naran in Mansehra District, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, in Pakistan.[1] Batakundi is famous for being located on the Kaghan Valley.[2]
Location
Batakundi is located in Mansehra District, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. It is situated on the Karakorum Highway or KKH[3] and is a stop for jeeps. It is the first destination on the road to Babusar Top.[4] It is also en route on the Mansehra-Naran-Jalkhad-Chilas Road.[5]
Tourism and Activities
Many people often stop at Batakundi to stay at hotels when they are planning their trip across Babusar Top. Batakundi is the last town in Kaghan Valley that stays open all year.[6] Most people visit the locals and take pictures and then leave.[7] An iconic scene of the town is the Batakundi Waterfall which most people visit the town for.[8] There are many great hotels and restraunts in the town including the famous Moon Restaurant which is also in Naran and Kaghan.[9]
People
Most people of Batakundi are Gujjars who are now Hindko speakers.[10]
