Transgender topics in the field of religion and spirituality include religious views of transgender, modern and pre-modern examples of transgender persons in religions and faith traditions, and other religious issues involving transgender people or identities. Transgender is a modern-day umbrella term which is applied to gender identity and expression which diverge from the normative two-gender roles (male and female) assigned at birth.
