Claiborne High School, named after William C. C. Claiborne, is a public high school in New Tazewell, Tennessee, USA. It is one of three high schools in Claiborne county, being the most populated of the three. The school currently enrols approximately 700 students, with a 1:15 teacher to student ratio.[2]

Academics

Claiborne High School offers a wide range of courses, including courses for agriculture, landscaping management, and masonry.[3]

Claiborne High School statistically underscores the state average in math proficiency but meets state standards for reading and writing proficiency.

The school has a higher percentage of low-income households than the state and country averages. Over half of the school, estimated 72% of all students, have free or reduced lunches[4]. As of at least 2018, the school has made lunches and breakfast free to all students, irregardless of family income.[5]

Athletics

Claiborne High School offers lots of athletic programs, including football, basketball, soccer, cheerleading, volleyball, tennis, golf, wrestling, dance, and track. The school does not offer boys volleyball or girls football.[6]
