Remove "watch" link[edit]
Please remove (watch) link since $1 inside is not subst'd for page name now with the new AJAX watch method. The link is not needed there anyway. Also see bugzilla:10400. The same for MediaWiki:Addedwatchtext ∴ Alex Smotrov 19:15, 28 June 2007 (UTC)
- As another option, we could use
{{fullurl:$1|action=watch}}
, couldn't we? – Luna Santin (talk) 19:52, 28 June 2007 (UTC)- Well, that's what the link is using right now but via a template. I admit I did not yet fully understand which exacly part is "hacky" (see bug discussion) but if you can simply fix the message — go ahead ∴ Alex Smotrov 20:08, 28 June 2007 (UTC)
- Hmm... discussion on WP:AN found a few others with similar odd behavior, and substing fixed them. Substing has nearly fixed these -- in my case, the links work once (Ajax), but if I click the link again (watch-unwatch-watch, in other words), I go back to the old "full page" watchlist display, and the parameter doesn't seem to get passed. Does this happen for you, as well? – Luna Santin (talk) 20:14, 28 June 2007 (UTC)
- Clicking the link in the message is supposed to bring you old "full page" since the script ajaxwatch.js only works on the top watch/unwatch link. As for $1, my guess is that the template was introduced to fix $1 substituting, by removing it you fixed it for ajax way but broke for the old way.
- In any case, the link is redundant and even confusing now (goes to "old way") so I think it's best to remove it even if you could fix it ∴ Alex Smotrov 20:46, 28 June 2007 (UTC)
- Concur. Removed for now. – Luna Santin (talk) 20:50, 28 June 2007 (UTC)
