Incorrect Information[edit]

Anybody else realize that the numbers do not add up?

For example:

  • UF received 27,850 applications and accepted 10,294 students. That is an acceptance rate of 36.9% not 39.5%
  • UCF received 22,030 applications and accepted 9,689 students. That is an acceptance rate of 43.9% not 48.3%

I would suggest that instead of using the U.S. News acceptance rate we use the numbers officially published by the respective universities. Let me know what you think.--Scpmarlins (talk) 03:05, 13 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed that too, but to keep things under the same criteria and year, I used the U.S. News and World Report figures for all the universities. I suppose though, that as long as it's the same semester (Fall 2008), and it's sourced, it's fine to use the more accurate figures. --Comayagua99 (talk) 21:42, 13 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

For Profit Colleges[edit]

Value of This Page[edit]

What is the point of this page? Admission rates don't mean a whole lot. I also don't see any other states with pages like this. --Mudent (talk) 21:41, 23 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I don't see any value to this page, beyond boosterism. I've spoken elsewhere about the pointlessness of comparing admissions rates, as the rates are affected by factors internal to the institution much more than anything other schools are doing. Additionally, putting the list together appears to be a lot of original research; I doubt any one source out there has as its subject a comparison of admission rates among Florida universities. You have to extrapolate the data yourself to draw the conclusion. Additionally, there's little rhyme or reason to the parameters. Why is Eckerd College excluded but Rollins College included? Even after the update the notability and OR problems remain. US News and World Report does not publish a "list of Florida universities by admission rates", you have to filter the data down to Florida and then sort it yourself to get that result. Additionally, their data doesn't exclude state/community colleges, as Wikipedia's list is trying to do (though it doesn't include all of them, and doesn't have data for all the ones it does include). There are still several colleges on the USN list that don't appear here.
It appears we're still trying to put together a list by sorting data from one source, and then arbitrarily editing out some of the data ourselves. There's no indication that the subject is notable.
