Merge[edit]

Since this article so clearly fails WP:GNG in that the colour lacks any significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject I propose as an alternative to WP:AFD to murge and redirect it to University of California, Los Angeles by creating a new sub-section called Colors and a sub-sub-section called UCLA Blue with the following :

UCLA Blue is the dark blue color and is described as a deep sky blue and is accompanied by a sun gold, UCLA Gold. Both are colloquially referred to as 'blue and gold'. Its use was approved by the Chancellor of UCLA in March 2004.
The hexadecimal value of the color is 536895. and is a Pantone color.
UCLA Blue is used by the school's academic and administrative units, which is different from True Blue adopted by UCLA Athletics

With the cites currently used. Mtking (edits) 06:13, 14 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose Thanks for proposing the merge to WP:PRESERVE the information and sparing AfD resources. I'd say to keep the stub based on an other stuff exists argument, and my not being sure if a different consensus exists for colors. Many other color articles fall into the same situation as this one, such as powder blue. For most colors, not much can be written about them aside from color values (web, Pantone, etc), and perhaps items that are associated with the color. In the case of UCLA Blue, there is additional description of how it differs between academia and athletics and improper use of the term in the press. While "other stuff" is sometimes be a weak argument, it cant be discounted without at least considering the precedents.
  • Comment If merged, why not merge verbatim?—Bagumba (talk) 07:13, 14 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  • Merge or delete. I doubt that it really passes the GNG; mentions by non-UCLA sources are generally trivial passing mentions amid coverage of a UCLA sports team &c. bobrayner (talk) 08:08, 14 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • Merge to Shades of blue. I'd like to counter the other stuff exists by stating that other articles have been merged. These are just five of the numerous color articles that I've recently merged. The current consensus, as shown in the merging of Brandeis blue and at this discussion, is to merge minor color articles into larger color list articles. This is currently done with UCLA Gold (it is part of the larger Gold (color) article). I see no reason not to do the same in this case.--Slon02 (talk) 05:12, 15 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I would have no issue with choosing Shades of blue, probably a little better than UCLA. Mtking (edits)
