I decided not to post the following to Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Floquenbeam 2.

Floq is a reasonable editor and I've seen no reason to believe he's not a good person who happens to be slightly misguided when it comes to one particular niche area of the project. I'm sure if I politely ask him after his RFA passes to refrain from closing any more discussions involving me (and perhaps commenting on them, since his word rightly carries some weight, more even now than before he was desysopped, and could sway others in the wrong direction) he would be amenable to the idea (it is essentially the same request he told CT that Wikipedia editors should be expected to comply with in one of the closes below), and that solve the problem just as well without opening me up to being accused of making a WP:POINTy !vote.

1. Oppose I doubt this will change anyone's mind, but in the past Floq has used his authority to create more heat than light with bad ANI closes that essentially amounted to "Yeah, I know one side is completely right and one side is completely wrong, but I'm going to call out the side that is right in my non-close and thus aggravate the issue going forward". Here, for example, he essentially condoned a bogus hounding accusation, and then when the accuser engaged in revenge-hounding a few days later he apparently admitted off-wiki that "Yeah, that looks bad" but didn't apparently do anything about it, and here he shot down a report about a serial plagiarist who was engaging in revenge-harassment of anyone who criticized his edits with Can we please just not bring every tiny little thing here?, which was later used as justification for the claim that Floq had actually taken the plagiarist's side in calling out the OP (me). Yeah, it's not Floq's fault that others later twisted his words, but it would be really nice if admins were more careful about not writing things that could so easily be twisted, and it seems very much like he does so specifically in cases involving me. (In the latter case at least, his close was directly tied to escalated drama, and in the former he could have cut off a massive trolling campaign that cost this project a valuable editor and has been causing me a lot of grief in the eight months or so since, but he chose not to.) I would be happy to change my !vote to "support" if Floq promised to stay away from discussions involving me since he seems to have had it out for me for a while.[1][2][3] Hijiri 88 (聖やや) 02:24, 24 July 2019 (UTC)
