"Warning"

It should be clarified that Hasteur is NOT an admin despite improperly posting "warnings" to the admin log section at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:GS/MMA. 75.172.12.104 (talk) 00:57, 29 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The Wikipedia community has permitted administrators to impose discretionary sanctions on any editor who is active on any page within the topic of mixed martial arts. Discretionary sanctions can be used against an editor who repeatedly or seriously fails to adhere to the purpose of Wikipedia, any expected standards of behavior, or any normal editorial process. If you engage in further inappropriate behavior in this area, you may be placed under sanctions, which can include blocks, a revert limitation, or an article ban. The discussion leading to the imposition of these sanctions can be read here.

Please familiarise yourself with the information page at Wikipedia:General sanctions.

I'm glad you're pointing me to the correct resources to address your violations of wiki rules in regard to MMA. You were already both quoted and linked to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Archive_top, which gives clear instructions for use, yet you choose to continue blatant violation regardless. If you continue to keep abusing this and likely other rules, I'm glad what you linked above is true. 75.172.12.104 (talk) 15:02, 28 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

ANEW notice

Notice of Edit warring noticeboard discussion

Hello. This message is being sent to inform you that there is currently a discussion involving you at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Edit warring regarding a possible violation of Wikipedia's policy on edit warring. Thank you. Hasteur (talk) 15:40, 28 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Copyright

Copy and pasting like that is a copyright violation, for starters. Secondly, it isn't how you start a discussion. You need to start from scratch, do a proper proposal and SIGN IT. Please do it right if you are going to do it at all. Dennis Brown |  | © | WER 16:51, 28 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I've researched copying material on wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Copying_within_Wikipedia, and only proper citing of source is necessary. Unless you can point to something overruling what looks like the wiki stance on this, I'm going to assume that's "doing it right" per official page. 75.172.12.104 (talk) 17:11, 28 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • You are moving a discussion that started on an improper page because it refers to the entire MMA project. The copyright was the obvious mistake, but showed you are not familiar how we do much of anything here. I'm trying to provide you with the proper information on doing this properly, so you don't have to keep having false starts. The normal course of action is to start fresh, notify everyone who participated, and have a discussion where everyone can participate equally, not a discussion where the editors of one page get to opine first. That whole conversation devolved quickly to begin with, into a pit of venom. The most neutral thing to do is to start over since there are a great many flaws with the entire process. Again, you seem to want to wikilawyer on this when WP:COMMONSENSE is sufficient. If you are really seeking input from everyone in an unbiased way, then this is the common sense way you do it. Dennis Brown |  | © | WER 18:17, 28 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The common sense here seems like the result of your actions are exactly the same as Hasteur's, except done instead on a minor technicality since the discussion is about that page (there are only two total). It comes up every couple months on major MMA topic boards that there were plenty of deletes discussed on separate UFC XX pages all about the same thing, and none of ones I checked (ufc 156, 157) was anyone forced to "move". I also know wiki is CC licensed and what that means, so no need to patronize me just because I'm not a regular here. Frankly I was told that this place was rife with politics. Just look at how terrible those two pages are compared to boxing or wrestling, and folks trying to improve them are made to jump extra hoops. 75.172.12.104 (talk) 18:46, 28 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • It is an editor driven encyclopedia, which means a lot of procedures. If you are interested in seeking a genuine consensus, then I am confused as to how you can see my interpretation as anything other than the logical, neutral and fair assessment of how to get it. I have never edited any MMA article, by the way. My role is that of an administrator and mediator, who just shut down a discussion that was aiming to get you blocked. I'm not sure how I can be more fair than I have been. Dennis Brown |  | © | WER 19:08, 28 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Well, you accused me of "retaliating" with a complaint without even checking when they were posted, and warned me for 1. doing the right thing by removing the template (war? really?) 2. wikilawyering for highlighting the one rule for that template, in light of the gibberish Hasteur wrote (was that even english?). So as much as I'm happy you're doing your duty, combine that with causing the same effect of locking down discussion on that page doesn't exactly inspire confidence that users are free do the right thing. That's been the problem with the MMA project: nobody from the community wants to touch it because they always end up getting driven off, even though the pages are clearly broken.

Also, just wondering, I see that in http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:GS/MMA, in the section for admin actions, Hasteur repeated "warns" users despite not being an admin. Is this kosher because it seems pretty suspect? Because he's following me around threatening with it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:UFC_161 (near end). 75.172.12.104 (talk) 00:38, 29 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
