Frank Hunter (photographer)

Sources include New York Times, New York Post, Broadway World, Am New York, QC Nerve, NPR and many more. How are these not reliable sources?

If this is about Leah Modigliani, I accepted it. The sourdces are sufficient to show that her work is in major museums, and that's the relevant criterion at WP:CREATIVE DGG ( talk ) 20:26, 2 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@DGG: It was regarding Draft:Frank Hunter (photographer). Anyway, thank you for assessing the Leah Modigliani. --KartikeyaS (talk) 20:36, 2 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
and I accepted Hunter also. It needs considerable cleanup, but that can be done in mainspace. DGG ( talk ) 00:28, 3 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Noted, thanks again. --KartikeyaS (talk) 06:04, 3 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Question

How to become an admin in Wikipedia — Preceding unsigned comment added by ProRavan Official (talkcontribs) 03:00, 29 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

ProRavan Official Why do you want to become an admin in Wikipedia? --KartikeyaS (talk) 06:38, 29 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Because as much as I know about Indian TV shows and their production houses. That I can create and edit a Wikipedia page because I want to become an admin — Preceding unsigned comment added by ProRavan Official (talkcontribs) 10:23, 29 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

(talk page stalker) The WP:RFA page has some information. You've got a long way to go before you should even think about being an admin. You need to understand the core Wikipedia policies and guidelines, be a good editor, be willing to resolve disputes, back your actions with policy / guidelines and especially not use the power of being an admin to get around restrictions just because you want to do so. Saher AlSous I will be happy to do that but before this please tell me who are "we" here? --KartikeyaS (talk) 06:40, 29 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
KartikeyaS343 okey. I'm not used to say I... I got the article and links from the organization, Pillars Fund, to create this article about it's founder.

Saher AlSous, first of all, please sign your posts using the four tildes. Now, if you have any Conflict of Interest with the topic of your article then you will need to disclose it first. Your draft contains some advertising/promotional tone. Please remove those and structure the citations properly then you may submit again for the review. --KartikeyaS (talk) 07:11, 3 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Draft:Manoj Verma (IPS)- Article for Submission review request

Sir,
Please check all the references and citing websites of this article and accept it. Please left me a message on my e-mail reewapal2018@gmail.com or my talk page for afc report of this article and I will correct it.
Regards,
Dibyojyoti RC (talk) 09:02, 29 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Dibyojyoti RC The decline reason has already been posted on your talk page. Please check and improve the article accordingly. I can still see only routine coverage and lack of citations for some claims and awards. For fairness, I will leave it for review by another reviewer. Thanks, --KartikeyaS (talk) 09:08, 29 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Draft has general references, not online

Draft:Order of Saint Helena contains general references as well as some inline citations. Are there particular statements in the draft that you feel require an inline citation according to WP:MINREF, but do not have one? If not, your decline would seem to violate WP:AFCSTANDARDS #1. Please be more specific about your thinking in declining it, leave it unreviewed, or accept it. It isn't a great page, but its problems are the sort best fixed in mainspace. --Worldbruce (talk) 12:42, 29 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Worldbruce there are a lot of unverified claims in the article without any inline citations. If the topic is notable enough for inclusion then there must be some reliable sources to verify which should be added to improve the draft before submitting again for a re-review. Mentions of books as references merely establishes the fact that it exists but doesn't state why and how it is notable for inclusion.--KartikeyaS (talk) 14:53, 29 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

How can I verify the reference by myself?

Please give me suggestions how I can verify the reference so that I can understand it. Like I gave a reference and I will verify it anyhow... Dibyojyoti RC (talk) 14:36, 2 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Please read Timtrent's message on your talk page and you will also need to answer to the COI concerns[1] please. --KartikeyaS (talk) 17:44, 2 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Dibyojyoti RC, For a living person we have a high standard of referencing. Every substantive fact you assert, especially one that is susceptible to potential challenge, requires a citation with a reference that is about them, and is independent of them, and is in WP:RS, and is significant coverage. Please also see WP:PRIMARY which details the limited permitted usage of primary sources and WP:SELFPUB which has clear limitations on self published sources. Providing sufficient references, ideally one per fact cited, that meet these tough criteria is likely to make any draft a clear acceptance (0.9 probability). Lack of them or an inability to find them is likely to mean that the person is not suitable for inclusion, certainly today. Fiddle Faddle 17:47, 2 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
KartikeyaS343, I have tried to do better than that. There has been a somewhat stilted discussion on my talk page, too. Fiddle Faddle 17:48, 2 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Timtrent, you jotted very well. Thanks so much. --KartikeyaS (talk) 17:52, 2 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Sreedhar Bevara’s article based on your feedback and about reliable media sources

Dear Mr Kartikeya, thank you to kindly review/offer comments to let the article hold a neutral view and have re-submitted based on your kind feedback.

However your another comment ‘sources not referred to independent/reliable & creator’s own’ may need your kind second consideration. Mainstream media sources/links such as ‘Forbes, The Hindu, Times, Sunday Guardian, Indian Express and many others, I hope you will agree holds reliable and independent distinction.

Neither the true story of starting career as street vendor due to extreme poverty is wrong nor the rise to corporate success internationally, nor the leadership author success of the book ‘Moment of Signal’ - all these three factors were well documented in the mainstream media and needs your kind attention. Await your kind revisit/review soon again 2001:8F8:1B2F:ACDE:155:C8E8:1EEE:E2EF (talk) 18:00, 9 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Apart from the undisclosed paid-editing problem, the references used in the article are paid placements and routine coverages. Not notable enough as per the guidelines for inclusion. --KartikeyaS (talk) 18:08, 9 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Kaushal Srivastava Wikipedia page

Hi there! I noticed that you flagged the Kaushal Srivastava draft page as being not suitable for Wikipedia. What do you suggest I change, improve, or remove to make it suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia? One of the reasons you cited was that I had included a reference written by Professor Srivastava himself. If you could please tell me what I could improve to make this page suitable for inclusion, I would be enormously grateful! Thank you! Greenrohan (talk) 22:20, 10 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Greenrohan first of all, please do not open multiple accounts unless necessary because this is against the policy of Wikipedia. Now, for your article, you need to present why the subject is notable. The relevant guideline is here. Thanks. --KartikeyaS (talk) 06:27, 11 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Request on 13:26:45, 12 October 2020 for assistance on AfC submission by PriyaWrites

Dear Kartikeya, I am interested in improving the article Syed Abdullah Tariq. Can you provide me specific guidelines? Or could you tell me which links are unreliable? I'd really appreciate your help in this regards...

Administrator nominations step

sir, how can a user be an nominator for administrator could you please tell me, as you think just a knowledge part of wikipedia. Dibyojyoti RC (talk) 10:45, 13 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Sreedhar Bevara - Sources and Fact-check please

Dear Mr Kartikeya, thank you to promptly respond.

I can understand if it needs further clean up; but for an experienced and unbiased editor like you to dismiss the whole case with unfounded suspicions such as paid-editing, paid-placements and routine-articles which is not only unfortunate but a mere discount on the reputed names such as Forbes magazine, Times of India, The HIndu, Indian Express along with top class names like Dr. Kiran Bedi who received me at her Raj Niwas to appreciate the work, Honorable VP of India Dr Venkaiah Naidu’s appreciation or even the man himself Chris Gardner’s words about the book ‘Moment of Signal’.

Secondly, someone who belonged to crushing below poverty line, worked as a street vendor and waiter to mitigate hunger issues, who went on to do bigger things that were well documented in mainstream media, if not a story of inspiration to reflect 80% of world’s population then what else can be, sir? I submit once again, the extensive coverage about the whole story was specific, categoric and in conjunction with the published (not self publish) book ‘Moment of Signal’s success. I stay positive for your kind reconsideration and fact-checking to guide accordingly2.51.51.189 (talk) 21:04, 13 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, to disappoint you but autobiographies are strongly discouraged in Wikipedia. The paid-editing tag was placed by an admin, not me. I just declined your draft because it read like advertising, promoting the subject. Please read WP:NPOV for more details. --KartikeyaS (talk) 06:37, 15 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Bowling Solitaire

Thanks for your work as editor. You declined the following article on the grounds of concerns about sourcing: Draft:Bowling_Solitaire_(game)

To help me figure out what needs changing for it to be accepted, I have a question. I can understand your decision given that some of the sources I included (#2, #3, #4, and #5) were not ideal. I simply included them with the draft that I submitted to help give editors some sense of the notability, with the understanding they could always be deleted if necessary. I'm happy to remove them.

Source #1 is in fact the key reliable and verifiable source: Sid Sackson's book A Gamut of Games. This book is a classic in the world of games (which is my area of expertise), and is often referred to by hobbyist gamers. This is the book that single-handedly popularized the game Solitaire Bowling, as a solitaire game with standard playing cards, and even leading to a published version. If I remove the other sources in light of them not being sufficiently reliable (at least by Wikipedia's standards), would that address the concern sufficiently? Gregorytopov (talk) 07:17, 15 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Here's one other source I could include, if it meets Wikipedia's criteria:
Doctorow, Cory. Bowling Solitaire: a smarter solitaire game, BoingBong, (January 15, 2013). Gregorytopov (talk) 07:23, 15 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Israel Weinstein Draft

I saw you denied Draft:Israel_Weinstein citing WP:ADMASK and in reading through the draft I do not agree that it reads like an advertisement in any sense. It seems to me the article follows WP:NPOV and WP:RS, so I don't understand why it was denied. Can you please expand on your reasoning as I would like to help this article to get published and it seems the grounds you denied it are either not correct, so I am at a loss as to what can be improved.
