Response from Porsche997SBS

Yourwelcome for my attempt at help, sorry it didn't have the right information. Also, instead of typing out "-Dixie48" at the end of each post edit, you are recommended to (and will probably want to) do it the easier way; type "--~~~~" (the tilde is shift, button right of 1) at the end of the post, and it will automatically input your username and date and time of the post or just click the signature button on the edit bar (looks like a zoom up on cursive writing). --Porsche997SBS 02:57, 28 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Autograph page

Hi, thanks for signing my autograph page! I appreciate it!! Cheers!!!!! -Zacharycrimsonwolf 13:41, 19 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Redirecting is just like creating internal links, except instead of using the button above the edit box with the underlined AB, use the button with the #R. However, you should never redirect article space to user space; that will result in all kinds of mayhem (trust me). There are four basic types of "spaces" (pages) in Wikipedia: user space, "help space", "Wikipedia space", and normal article space (not to mention templates). Never, should they redirect to each other, though they can all link within themselves (with special rules in userspaces; see:Wikipedia:User_page#How_do_I_create_a_user_subpage.3F). As a new contributor, you may ask questions here; later on, you may want to ask questions at the help desk (for Wikipedia-related questions) or the reference desk (for all other questions). Though I'm really flattered you're asking me for help, the best people to ask for help would be administrators (list of admins.); to help block vandals or request article deletion, you should also request help from and administrator.--Porsche997SBS 04:24, 20 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I should add this to: changing a redirect is a tricky business. First of all, it may start an edit war of sorts (It'll be controversial). You have to consider all reasons for doing it carefully and if you find yourself low on reasoning, don't do it. If you must though, to do it, type in the redirect keyword. Then click the relatively small blue link just below the article title. It'll send you to a peculiar-looking page (you'll know what I mean when you see it) which you can edit like any other page. Do not edit the "deathcap" redirect page; the Deathcap article is a featured article (you can tell by the gold star in the top right), so it's likely it'll be redirected quickly and you may be blasted by the moderators of the page (just don't alter this redirect, please). So, do you like the Cougars, Utes, Aggies, or Wildcats?--Porsche997SBS 04:49, 20 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'd figured that if you live in Utah, you'd be aware of the BYU Cougars, Utah Utes, Utah State Aggies, and Weber State Wildcats, but I might be wrong (after all, I've only visited Utah once, and that was only for a couple hours near the western Arizona-Utah border)--Porsche997SBS 23:40, 20 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Adoption request

Well, you're lucky, I'm taking only three at the moment, and you're number three! Congrats, I'd be happy to be your mentor, so feel free to ask me any questions. And, if you've put up any userboxes requesting for adoption, you can remove them now. Cheers!! -Zacharycrimsonwolf 08:31, 20 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks :)

Thanks very much for wishing me happy birthday! I had a great day - well, it could have been better, I spent all day studying for an exam! But let's concentrate on the positives, hmmm? :) My friends got me a great cake, a lot like this one, and since you've been so kind, I saved you a piece. Hope you enjoy it, and the rest of your day :) Riana (talk) Riana (talk) 18:02, 21 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Ms. Silly!

(sorry, got the name off your userboxes) Thanks for the smile, it really did cheer me up. And I can see by your userboxes that you like Pink Floyd... which is awesome. See you around :) Will (talk) 18:04, 21 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Indeed I do. Will (talk) 18:18, 21 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Questions

 1. Well, for your first question, I would say that if you'd like to put up a userbox that says "I've been adopted by --", then go ahead. As for your second question, its a little complicated. I'll give you a hint and a nudge, and you can experiment for yourself. Take my sig for example.

- <font color="black" face="papyrus">Zachary</font><font color="crimson" face="papyrus">crimsonwolf</font>

Which is
Zacharycrimsonwolf

If you'd like to change the name, type:

<font color="black" face="papyrus">Polar</font><font color="crimson" face="papyrus">wolf</font>
And you'll get:
Polarwolf

If you'd like to change the colours, take a look at colours. Select the number/name of the colour you like, say, midnightblue, and replace the "crimson" or "black". If you like to change the font, take a font you like (take a look at your MicrosoftWord fonts) and replace "papyrus. Example:

<font color="goldenrod" face="comic sans ms">Polar</font><font color="midnightblue" face="comic sans ms">wolf</font>
The result?
Polarwolf

Hope it helps! Cheers!!!! -Zacharycrimsonwolf 02:45, 22 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

PS:When you've created your new signature, please let me have a look! Thanks!!

 1. By the way, in response to your question regarding the userbox, here it is:
Zachary crimsonwolf

Which produces

Re:Signature

Well, you can use the copy option in your computer. Right click, select copy, go to your Preferences, delete your old signature, and paste your new one! If that doesn't work, tell me so I can try it out myself. Cheers!!! -Zacharycrimsonwolf 11:18, 22 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The purpose of Wikipedia

The purpose of Wikipedia is the encyclopedia. If you do not contribute more to the encyclopedia, your userpage will be deleted and your account blocked. At present you have made two edits to articles, none to article talk pages, but have made over 250 edits to other namespaces. Please consider why you are here. --Deskana (talk) 16:37, 22 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Edit articles. It's that simple. There is nothing to learn. Go and find an article and improve it. You do not need time to learn how to edit, as you clearly understand what to do, since you can edit pages. A lot of people wouldn't even have warned you, they would have just blocked you, so please don't make me regret giving you a chance. --Deskana (talk) 20:12, 22 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

OK, it's good that you've started to edit articles. A few things to make you aware of...

 • Firstly, Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a dictionary, and as such, I had to delete your article, Untroubled, as it is simply a dictionary entry.
 • Secondly, you can't just copy content from other sources. It's pretty clear that you copied the content of Untroubled from somewhere. This is likely a violation of copyright, which is against United States law and the spirit of the project, which is to create a free encyclopedia.

It's good that you're trying though. Keep at it. Perhaps you should try editing articles that have already been started rather than creating your own, first. :-) --Deskana (talk) 20:22, 22 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If you want simple stuff, try Category:Wikipedia backlog. Something like Category:All pages needing to be wikified is pretty nice. You can read Category:Articles that need to be wikified for instructions on exactly what wikification is. --Deskana (talk) 20:30, 22 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Here is an example that I did myself. I plan to do a few now, actually. I quite enjoy it. It's simple, relaxing, and it provides a break from administrative duties like dealing with problem editors. :-) --Deskana (talk) 20:34, 22 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Purpose of Wikipedia

Well, Polarwolf, try making minor edits to articles (spelling corrections, mistakes and remember to use edit summaries and mark them as minor edits, ask me for help if ou don't understand :) ). And, try putting some useful stuff in your user page (ask me or refer to my user page). What you have now is all referring you. Remember, ask me for help if you need an. Cheers!!!

PS:Sorry if I'm blunt, I'm in a rush now. I love your signature, but try experimenting with the colours, some people might not be able to see your "wolf" properly. By the way, I love wolves and bears, too. Polar and grizzly bears. -Zacharycrimsonwolf 14:37, 24 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Questions

Well, if you'd like, you can use the golden rod for your "wolf". And papyrus goes well with goldenrod. My previous signature, which was not acceptable for its length (must be less than 255 characters), which you can see here, is a good example. As for your editing, ask me for anything at all. If you want to know whether you should use CAPS to emphasize a point, or to use italics to do it, ask me (you must always use italics to emphasize something). Happy editing, and cheers!!!! -Zacharycrimsonwolf 10:28, 25 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well, don't worry about it. I just gave those as suggestions, in case you might want a different font (do you have any?). It's okay, not too long, not too distracting. You can always ask me, if you want more fonts. -Zacharycrimsonwolf 12:17, 27 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Adopt-a-User

Well, no problem. Its sure nice to hear from you again! Remember, if you have any inquiries about Wikipedia, ask me!! Cheers!!! -Zacharycrimsonwolf 04:05, 8 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Adopt-a-User

Hey, no problem. Its okay if you're late in replying. You were busy, from what I read from your user page. Anyhow, its nice to hear from you again. Remember, if you have any questions regarding Wikipdia, ask me. Cheers and happy editing!!! -Zacharycrimsonwolf 13:32, 8 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re:New Pages

Well, you could type in your page's title (e.g. User:Polarwolf/Autographs) and when the resulting page pops up, there will be a 'you have search for User:Polarwolf/Autograph (red in colour). Click on it and edit it the way you want it to be. Or, the second, easier way would be to click on this: User:Polarwolf/Autographs. Edit it as usual. Remember the Preview button and check for mistakes! But every time you want to create a new page, remember you can always type in the page's title in the search box (Alt+F as a shortcut) or, go to the Wikipedia:Sandbox and edit it. Type Page name for a new article or User:Polarwolf/Page name for a new personal page. Save, and click on the resulting red link(s). Alternatively, check out Help:Creating a new page for more information. Cheers!!! --Zacharycrimsonwolf 12:15, 11 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, thanks for the compliment (a pat on the back for you!), its great to know that I'm doing well. Well, about your signature, I clicked on the Edit this page button and checked it out. Apparently, there is some sort of bug (Example: polar&#91#91&#91&font color), I'm sure you didn't put it there. Well, I suggest you get a copy of your old siggie (there's one in my talk page), copy it and paste in your preferences signature box. If it doesn't work, I'll get help from all the admins I know (they're like managers or directors, delete pages or restores them, and generally make Wikipedia a whole lot of a better place. If you wanna know more about them, ask me. You should know about them, you've probably met them somewhere, but you wouldn't notice, they act like normal users. After the bug in your sig is cleared off, I'm gonna start tutoring you about admins and stewards). Now, about your signature. If it still doesn't work , well, as I've mentioned earlier, I'll get some help. In the meantime, lets hope the bug wears off. Cheers!!! --Zacharycrimsonwolf 12:51, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Admin/Sysops and Stewards

Well, as I've promised earlier, I'll start on Admins, who are also called Sysops. They generally delete articles or restore deleted articles, block other users, undo blocks, and much more. Check out this page; its more specific. Everything you'd like to know is probably there. to be an Admin, you need at least 1000 edits and even then its not guaranteed that you will pass. But what is important is your field of edits. Mainspace edits are very crucial, as well of your participation in Miscellany for Deletion debates, and Articles for Deletion debates. But I'm not here to teach you how to be one, I'm here to tell you what they do. If there is anything you don't understand in the links I recommended just now, just leave me a message. Cheers! --Zacharycrimsonwolf 13:53, 18 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Every sysop can do it, but only if there is a good reason for it (continuous vandalism, sockpupetting, etc.). --Zacharycrimsonwolf 11:14, 20 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I believe you mean this. Its rather complicated; I've only done my first one recently. Try it out! --Zacharycrimsonwolf 09:11, 23 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ok. If you don't understand any part of it, feel free to ask me. Thanks for the birthday wish! Cheers!! --Zacharycrimsonwolf 13:02, 25 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Lyrics, copyright, and you

I'm afraid you can't put song lyrics on your user page - they're copyrighted, and Wikipedia is pretty strict about that sort of thing. (See WP:LYRICS for an explanation of how they can be used.) Zetawoof(ζ) 01:03, 29 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Sockpuppets

Well, every user has an IP address, that is the long string of numbers that you see if you sign when you're not logged in. And if a user is blocked, and another user with the same address appears, you'll know. And, naturally the "fake users" will behave the same attitude, and edit the same articles. Those are the easy ones. For the sneaky ones, using public computers (different IP addresses from their house's) or changing places with each account, or have diffferent personalities, that's when we watch the suspects. I think..try here. I hope everything helps!! Cheers, Zacharycrimsonwolf 12:41, 1 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well, its nice to know. I've been none too active at Wikipedia lately either, and just returned. Anyway, stop by whenever you're free, and remember, if you've any questions, ask me! Cheers!!! --Zacharycrimsonwolf 07:39, 18 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello!

Hi there! I haven't seen or heard from you in awhile- where've ya been? Thanks for emailing me all the info I needed for that article I wanted to add to, you're a lifesaver. However, I don't know if I'm going to be able to add anything to Wikipedia for awhile. thanks anyway, ttyl --Shadywolf666'

What a Brilliant Idea Barnstar
Thanks for the smile. I passed it on, like you said. It's a brill idea Pheonix (talk) 21:40, 21 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Bling-bling on page

Wel, if you want that neat little add-on, I can try to find a user who has it and show me how its done. I already know one user, by the way. Besides, I've been itching for it for a long, long time only I'm...lazy. But since you've asked, I'll happily do it, and soon both of us can add it on (I hope). Thanks for your congrats message, I've been coached for about...one month if I'm not mistaken. Anyway, cheers!! --Zacharycrimsonwolf 07:54, 25 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well, it appears that she has a WP:BOT to get the status template, if you can understand it, I'd suggest you do it too. In the meantime, I'm on a Wikibreak (real busy), but I'll check in every week or two. But I'll try to get the template for you. Cheers!! --Zacharycrimsonwolf 13:34, 5 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the smile!

And I saw you were wondering about the status thing, you could use StatusBot if you want, (although it is offline until Monday I believe). There are actually a few status things out there, but mine was written specifically for me, and it is pretty complicated, so I wouldn't suggest trying to copy/paste it lol. (I didn't write it, so I can't help you with it, sorry) Thanks again for the smile! ArielGold 20:34, 26 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Signature book

Do you want me to add your signature book for you? It is rather confusing, I must admit. ^^ — jacĸrм (talk) 22:38, 17 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There we go. I added it. I added it the same way as you added it before, so I hope you liked those colours! Go change it if you want, it's all columnised now :P Anyway yeah, I'm here to talk about Wikipedia with you, I have a bit of experience, so I'll try my best to help. Europe never fails to amaze me, so I like to go there. Most recently went to Spain, at the southern tip, very near Africa. I got very burnt and was very ill. My own fault really. I've never been to the U.S. yet, even though I have alot of family there! What about you? — jacĸrм (talk) 22:59, 17 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ireland is a beautiful country. It has a sad recent past though. It also amazes me how most americans have never been in a castle! Also, I'm breaking rules by having a chat like this. We could get into trouble as "Wikipedia is not a social networking site", and I doubt you would add me at MSN or AIM. I'm off to bed in a few. — jacĸrм (talk) 23:11, 17 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
