Martins Vincent Otse (born 8 April 1994), known as Very Dark Man, is a Nigerian blogger, media personality, and internet celebrity.[1]

Early life

Otse had his early education in Lagos, and went on to acquire his Bachelor's Degree in Business administration from the University of Lagos.[2][3]

Career

VDM's career started in 2020, but he rose to mainstream success in 2023.[4] Before fame, Very Dark Man was an hairdresser.[5]

After much consideration, he decided to pursue his career further by uploading various videos, which are often controversial on his social media handles, especially Facebook and TikTok.[6]

Soon enough, he started getting noticed by Nigerian top influencers and singers who gained interest in his videos. He gained more popularity after singer Davido followed him on Instagram and co-signed him.[7][8][9]

Very Dark Man broke into the industry and rose to fame around June 2023.[10][11]

His popularity has earned some notable recognition. Very Dark Man was nominated for Silverbird's Most Influential Influencer of The Year. He was nominated alongside Tunde Ednut, Hilda Baci, and Don Jazzy.[12]

Controversy

Very Dark Man has dealt with controversial posts and videos about celebrities such as Blessing CEO and Tonto Dikeh.[13][14][15]

Dark Man received criticism after demanding that the late Nigerian singer MohBad child's DNA test should be done. The family of late MohBad reacted negatively to conducting a DNA test, whereby Mohbad's sister-in-law threatened Very Dark Man with N300 million lawsuit over the DNA test request.[16][17][18]
