Revision as of 02:01, 10 April 2009

The Wikipedia trading card game is a trading card game based on Wikipedia, to be developed by the community, and eventually sold (at the cafepress store for wikipedia for instance), with all proceeds going to the Wikimedia foundation. The ultimate goal is fundraising, to help keep Wikipedia running.

The trading card game is currently in development (see here for the original proposal). Anybody is free to help out.

Rules

List rules possibilities here. Rules are a top priority, since they would determine most other aspects of the game, including card design. A concern has been expressed that the game should have collaborative, rather than competitive goals.

Proposed rule sets

Aesthetics

List possibilities for the general aesthetics of card design here (both front and back).

  • Two competing design possibilities for the overall deck (top side):

Card designs

Place images of proposed card designs here.

Finished cards

Approved cards to appear in the final deck should be moved here.

Name possibilities

List your ideas for the game's eventual name here. "Wikipedia trading card game" is the current working title, which will hopefully be replaced by something much cooler.

  1. Wiki Battle
  2. Blocked!
  3. Edit War
  4. Wikipedia TCG
  5. How about a word from a foreign language that is pertinent? Kanogul (talk) ("Tayori"- Japanese for "information", for instance)

Testing

Once completed, the game should be tested extensively to ensure a balanced game. When ready, testing programs and beta versions should be made available here.
