Yuri Nikolayevitch Zhukov (Russian: Юрий Николаевич Жуков, born on 22 January 1938, in Krasnogorsk) is a Russian scientist, Doctor of Science in history, leading research fellow at the Institute of Russian History at Russian Academy of Sciences.

Biography

In 1976, Zhukov defended his PhD dissertation «Critique of modern bourgeois Anglo-American historiography of the development of Soviet culture in USSR». Took the post of the editor in chief of USSR history in the Great Russian Encyclopedia. Led a team editors and was responsible for compiling encyclopedias "Moscow" and "Civil war and foreign intervention in USSR".

Author of multiple monographes and hundreds of scientific papers, concerning the 1920-1950 period of the Soviet history. In 1992, Zhukov defended his Sc.D. dissertation «The becoming and the activity of Soviet agencies of defense of historical and cultural memorials. 1917-1920.»

Zhukov regularly appears on Russian television programs dedicated to Soviet history.
