The 1977 Benson & Hedges Masters was a professional non-ranking snooker tournament that took place between Monday 7th and Friday 11th February 1977 at the New London Theatre in London, England.[1]

Doug Mountjoy, who was brought into his first major professional tournament only as a late replacement, duly won it as the 33/1 outsider. Having turned professional for a couple of months having won the World Amateur title, Mountjoy confirmed how narrow was the gap between professionals and top amateurs by beating three former world professional champions John Pulman, Fred Davis, Alex Higgins and the then defending champion Ray Reardon in the final, winning 7–6 on the final pink.
