These are the daytime Monday–Friday schedules on all three networks for each calendar season beginning in September 1981. All times are Eastern; affiliate schedules may differ.

NOTE: On October 1, 1982, Captain Kangaroo aired its final weekday episode. The show then moved exclusively to Saturday mornings, where it would remain until its cancellation in 1984. Sunrise Semester also aired its final episode on the same day. CBS Morning News expanded from 90 minutes to 2 hours (becoming CBS' first 2-hour morning show), and replaced these iconic but outdated children's programs.
