The 1989 NBA Expansion Draft was held so the Minnesota Timberwolves and Orlando Magic, expansion teams for the 1989–90 National Basketball Association season, could fill their rosters with players from existing NBA teams. The draft took place June 15, 1989 and each expansion team chose 12 unprotected players from existing NBA teams.[1][2]
