The 2016 Hawaii Bowl is the upcoming post-season American college football bowl game to be played on December 24, 2016 at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu, Hawaii. The fifteenth edition of the Hawaii Bowl will feature a team from Conference USA against the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors from the Mountain West Conference. It will begin at 3:15 p.m. HAST and air on ESPN. It is one of the 2016–17 bowl games that will conclude the 2016 FBS football season.

Teams

The game will feature the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors with a record of 6–7 against a team from Conference USA. This will also be the second time that the Hawaii Bowl will feature a team with a losing record, after Fresno State in the 2014 Hawaii Bowl.

Hawaii Rainbow Warriors

Hawaii, playing in their first bowl game since 2010, will become the first Hawaii team to enter a bowl game with a losing record. The Rainbow Warriors, led by head coach Nick Rolovich, won the most league games since joining the MW in 2012, and had the most wins in a season since 2011. The Bows have lost three straight bowl games, including the 2008 BCS Sugar Bowl against Georgia, and have not won since a 41-24 Hawaii Bowl win over Arizona State in 2006, 10 years earlier.

Conference USA team

SBNation writer Jason Kirk has projected Southern Miss as the other team selected for the game, while CBS Sports writer Jerry Palm has projected Louisiana Tech as the team. [1][2]

An official announcement of Hawaii's opponent will be made on Selection Sunday, December 4.
