The Roewe i5 is a compact[2] car, available as a sedan and as an electric station wagon, produced by SAIC Motor.[3] First introduced via the electric station wagon version, the Roewe Ei5, the compact station wagon debuted on the 2017 Guangzhou Auto Show.

The electric station wagon (estate) variant is sold in the United Kingdom as the MG 5 EV.

Overview

The Roewe i5 is the gasoline powered model and is only available as a gasoline powered sedan, while the electric Ei5 is only available as a station wagon. The engines for the i5 are the same 1.5 liter inline-4 petrol engine and 1.5 liter inline-4 turbocharged petrol engine in the Buick Excelle GX.[4]

Roewe Ei5

The Roewe Ei5 is the electric station wagon version of the Roewe i5. Debuting during the 2017 Guangzhou Auto Show, the Chinese version is powered by a single electric motor producing 116 hp. It claims a range of 300 kilometers and a 145 km/h top speed.[5]

The Ei5 was launched in the UK rebranded as the MG 5 EV in September 2020,[6] with a more powerful, 154-hp electric motor and a 115 mph (185 km/h) top speed. With a 52.2-kWh battery, the vehicle has a range of 214 miles (344 km) in the WLTP cycle.[7]

The Roewe Ei5 was launched in Thailand rebranded as the MG EP on 26 November 2020 with a more powerful, 163-hp electric motor and 260 nm. of Torque.
