Alexander 'Álex' Vallejo Mínguez (born 16 January 1992) is a Spanish footballer who plays as a midfielder for EFL Championship side Huddersfield Town.

Football career

Born in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Álava, Vallejo finished his graduation with Deportivo Alavés' youth setup, and made his senior debuts with the reserves in the 2011–12 season, in Tercera División. On 20 August 2011 he made first-team debut, starting and committing a penalty in a 2–2 away draw against CA Osasuna B for the Segunda División B championship.[1]

On 25 January of the following year Vallejo signed a new deal with Alavés, being immediately loaned to Sestao River Club, also in the third division.[2] On 2 August he signed with fellow third-divisioner RCD Mallorca B,[3] being a regular starter in the relegation campaign.

On 23 November 2013, Vallejo played his first professional game with the main squad, starting in a 2–1 home win over former club Alavés, for the Segunda División championship.[4] On 26 June of the following year he renewed his link with the Balearic outfit for three years, being definitely promoted to the first-team.[5]

On 20 December 2014, Vallejo scored his first professional goal, but in a 1–3 away loss against SD Ponferradina; this match proved to be his last one with the main squad before suffering a severe knee injury in April 2015, being sidelined for nearly two years.[6]

On 2 July 2017, after suffering relegation, free agent Vallejo signed a two-year contract with Córdoba CF also in the second level.[7] On 5 August 2019, after another drop, he signed a one-year deal with second division newcomers CF Fuenlabrada.[8]

On 31 January 2020, after appearing sparingly, Vallejo cut ties with Fuenla.[9]

On 18 October 2020, Vallejo signed on a free transfer to EFL Championship side Huddersfield Town.[10]
