- January 1 - the chairmanship of the Eurasian Economic Union will pass from Belarus to Kazakhstan.[1]<refname=vlast2021godu>[2][3]
- January 2 - Death Penalty officially abolished after nearly a two decade recession.[4]
- January 10 - Kazakh Legislative Election
- January 15 - Askar Mamin was reappointed as Prime Minister of Kazakhstan by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. Nurlan Nigmatulin was also reelected as the Chair of the Mazhilis.[5]
