"The War Lord" is an instrumental tune written by Jerome Moross.[1] It was the theme from Franklin J. Schaffner's 1965 film The War Lord, starring Charlton Heston and Richard Boone.

The tune was recorded by the British group The Shadows and released as a single on 19 November 1965, with "I Wish I Could Shimmy Like My Sister Arthur" (John Rostill) as the B-side. It spent 9 weeks in the UK Top 40 pop chart reaching #18 and holding that position for two weeks over the 1965/66 Christmas/New Year period.

It also appeared as B-side Track 1 on the EP "Those Talented Shadows" (EP-SEG 8500) released in September 1966.
