Panku Jamai (Template:Lang-bn, transl. Stylish Son-in-law) is a 2018 Bangladeshi comedy drama film. The film directed by Abdul Mannan and produced by Muzammel Huque Sarkar under the banner of Bhawal Pictures. It features superstar Shakib Khan and Apu Biswas in the lead role.[2][3] Also features Misha Sawdagor, Puspita Popy and ATM Shamsuzzaman.[4][5][6][7][8][9] It is the last film of Shakib Khan and Apu Biswas as a duo.[10]
Synopsis
Akash Chowdhury (Shakib Khan) belongs to a low class family. But he wants to marry Nupur (Apu Biswas), daughter of a rich family. Meanwhile, Hormuz Ali (Misha Sawdagor) also wants to marry Nupur. The incident of two sons-in-law convincing the father-in-law by dressing stylishly is shown in the film.

Production
The film Panku Jamai began on February 2, 2016, with a Muharat was held at the 4th floor of Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC).[11][12] It is the first collaboration between the director and protagonist. The film's story written by Abdul Mannan, about this he said, "I'm making this film with a completely original story, I've not followed any shade or story of any other film here. I've written the story myself, so I'm confident that I can present a good film to the audience."[13]

The film's soundtrack composed by Emon Saha, Ali Akram Shuvo and Debendranath Chattopadhyay with background music AR Bablu. The film's songs are sung by Runa Laila, Andrew Kishore, Monir Khan, Rizia Parveen, Kanak Chapa and S.I. Tutul respectively. The first song titled "Alta Dudhey" was sung by Andrew Kishore and Kanak Chapa. It was penned by Sudeep Kumar Dip and composed by Ali Akram Shuvo, which was revealed on June 10, 2018, on Live Technologies Limited's YouTube channel.[14]

Release
The film Panku Jamai was released in 50 theaters across the country on June 16, 2018, on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr.[1][12][15] It was released in India on May 12, 2023, along with the film Pathaan in Bangladesh under the SAFTA agreement.[16][17]
Reception
National award-winning director Chatku Ahmed noted that the film's name inconsistency with the story. He also wrotes that there is nothing Panku Jamai in this story. However, he praised Shakib Khan's performance, referring to Khan as "the soul of Bangladeshi cinema".[18]
