Budry [ˈbudrɨ] is a village in Węgorzewo County, Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, in northern Poland, close to the border with the Kaliningrad Oblast of Russia. It is the seat of the gmina (administrative district) called Gmina Budry.[1] It lies approximately 10 kilometres (6 mi) north-east of Węgorzewo and 105 km (65 mi) north-east of the regional capital Olsztyn. It is located in the historic region of Masuria.
History
In the late 19th century, the village had a population of 778, predominantly Polish by ethnicity, mostly employed in agriculture.[2]
