Borodianka, sometimes as Borodyanka (Ukrainian: Бородянка) is an urban-type settlement in Kiev Oblast (province) of Ukraine. It is the administrative center of Borodianka Raion. Population: 13,135 (2013 est.)[1]. In 2001, population was 12,535.

The town is located on a river Zdvyzh which is a right tributary of Teteriv River.

In 1863 Borodianka became known for its anti-Muscovite uprising led by Władysław Żeleński as part of the January Uprising.

On 8 November 1943 Borodianka was liberated by the Soviet regiments of 75th Guards Rifle Division from the occupation of Nazi Germany.

Infrastructure

In Soviet times in Borodianka village was organized Lenin collective farm which after dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1990s was transformed into an agrarian firm Vidrodzhennia (Revival) and later "Kolos".

In 1974 in the town Borodianka was built a branch of the Kiev factory "Chervonyi Ekskavator" (Red Excavator).

Airfield

The town is notable for its private aviation airfield (one of the few in Ukraine) and "Borex" excavator-manufacturing company (being the only important industry in Borodianka). During the Cold War it was home to the Borodianka Air Base.
