[edit]- 1829 – Carrollton Viaduct, the first stone masonry bridge built for railroad use in the United States and the world's oldest railway bridge still in use, is opened for service.[1]
- 1833 – The Georgia Railroad is chartered to build a railroad between Atlanta and Athens, Georgia.[2]
- 1896 – The Ottawa, Arnprior and Parry Sound Railway opens in Canada.[3]
20th century
[edit]- 1907 – F. B. Clarke begins his term as president of Spokane, Portland and Seattle Railway.[1]
- 1962 – Reading Company takes delivery of the last RDC built by Budd Company.[1]
- 1992 – Bussy-Saint-Georges station on RER line A in France opens.[4]
21st century
[edit]- 2004 – Siemens receives an order to build 60 new ICE trainsets for service between Moscow and Saint Petersburg, Russia; the new equipment is expected to enter service in 2007.
