Howell's Cottage in 2018

Howell's Cottage, also known as Te Whare Kohikohi, is thought to have been the first house built in Riverton, New Zealand. It was built in 1837–38 and is thus one of very few New Zealand buildings constructed before the 1840s. It was built for the founder of Riverton, Captain John Howell. On 20 February 1992, the building was registered as Category I with Heritage New Zealand.[1]
