Canada Harbour
Canada Harbour is an abandoned outport community in Newfoundland and Labrador. It was a French station before 1857, settled by 1860 and abandoned in 1969.
In the early 20th century, Canada Harbour had two small quarries; the marble was said to have been high-quality, but none was ever shipped. Many people still revisit the outport community. Canada Harbour was established as a Roman Catholic community. In 1927 a church was built and was later named Our Lady of Mount Carmel. A cemetery was built just south of the church in the woods. The church was relocated in 1970 and was moved to Englee, Newfoundland. It was floated by barge at a distance of about 3 miles. The church still stands today and has undergone some minor repairs over the years.
