Diploderma luei is a species of lizard in the family Agamidae. The species is endemic to Taiwan.[2][3]
Geographic range
In Taiwan D. luei has only been found in the mountains of Yilan County and Hualien County at elevations of 900 to 1,800 m (3,000 to 5,900 ft).[4]
Description
The snout-to-vent length (SVL) of D. luei may reach 10 cm (3.9 in); the total length (including the long tail) may reach 27 cm (11 in).[5]
Reproduction
Etymology
The specific name, luei, comes from the name of Taiwanese herpetologist Kuang-Yang Lue, to honor his contributions to the herpetology of Taiwan.[2][4][6]
Conservation status
D. luei is listed as a rare and valuable species in the Taiwan Wildlife Conservation Act.[5]
