Kurshab (established as Pokrovskoe, and known as Leninskoye before 2003 [1]) is a large village in Osh Region of Kyrgyzstan. The settlement was established as Pokrovskoe by settlers from majorly Kiev Governorate of Russian Empire in 1893. By 1900s Pokrovskoe amounted to 186 households. [2] Its population was 16,364 in 2009.[3] It is situated near the Kurshab River, between the cities Osh and Uzgen.
