History
The school was founded in 1973, and prior to 1994, it was located within Congregation Anshei Israel. The school is now located on the Pozez Education Campus, directly next to the Tucson Jewish Community Center,[1] Arizona Jewish Post,[2] Jewish Community Foundation, and the Jewish Federation of Southern Arizona.[3] An additional building was completed in 1997 and now primarily houses the middle school. The grades now go from kindergarten to eighth grade. T.H.A honored one of the family members passing by putting a plaque in the auditorium, the plaque honored the father of Martin Weich and Jacob Weich and the husband of Risa Weich. The plaque also honored Risa Weich's father Martin Weich (the grandfather of Martin and Jacob Weich).
In addition to regular academics and secular studies, the school offers instruction in Hebrew, Judaic studies, Torah (Bible) and T'filah (Jewish prayer). According to the school's website,[4] the average class size is 14 students, with a student/teacher ratio of 9:1. As a private school, THA charges tuition for attending students. However, substantial financial aid is available and provided to students demonstrating need. Tucson Hebrew Academy holds accreditation from the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS) and the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement (NCA).
