MarkWest Energy Partners, L.P. is a wholly owned subsidiary of MPLX LP (NYSE: MPLX), is engaged in the gathering, processing, and transportation of natural gas; the transportation, fractionation, storage and marketing of NGLs; and the gathering and transportation of crude oil. The company divides the business into four parts: Southwest, Northeast, Marcellus and Utica. Since 2007, the company develops natural gas supplies in emerging resource plays, now it has become the majority of its growth.[3]

History

In 1988, the company was founded in Denver, Colorado.[1]
