Icebird is an American indie rock group from Los Angeles. Their sound is a mix of rock, post-punk, southern rock and metal.

History

The band originated in L.A.'s Silver Lake music scene. Icebird was started by two friends, Barry Monahan and Kate Wise who lived in Los Angeles. Monahan and his brother Mike, who soon joined the band, were born and raised on Long Island, while Wise was from Huntsville, Alabama. Both of them were inspired and encouraged by the music of Kate’s brother’s band French Kicks in New York. They soon settled on a name the name Icebird after a coffee shop in the Koreatown neighborhood where both Monahan's lived.
