Joseph B. Sagal (born February 12, 1957) is an American actor and screenwriter who has played Elvis Presley and George Clooney in movies and on television. He is the son of film director Boris Sagal. He played the D.C.comicbook villain Gunn in the D.C. comics movie “Return of the Swampthing”. Joey is a character actor who has played good guys and bad guys from Elvis Presley to Michael Bloomberg. He originated the part of “The Visitor”[Elvis Presley]in the World Premiere Steppenwolf Production of Steve Martins first play “Picasso at the Lapin Agile” at The Geffen Playhouse where he did 333 performances in 10 months.

Joey wrote the screenplay for the film Elvis & Nixon.[1][2][3][4][5] The idea for the screenplay came about at a chance meeting with Sagal, his now ex-wife Hanala Sagal and Cary Elwes.[6] Joey met Elvis on the set of his father's 1965 film Girl Happy,[7] which eventually inspired him to take the role as the Elvis-like character, The Visitor for the initial 357 performances of Steve Martin's Picasso at the Lapin Agile.[8][9]
