The short-billed canastero (Asthenes baeri) is a species of bird in the family Furnariidae. It is found in Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay, and Uruguay. Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical dry shrubland. Three subspecies are recognized:
