Saša Ilić (Macedonian Cyrillic: Саша Илиќ, born 5 September 1970) is a Macedonian retired goalkeeper.

Club career

He had three seasons with German side Hamburger SV, but never managed to play a league game for them.[1] Ilić played for Pirouzi, now Persepolis during the 2003–04 season and Esteghlal Ahvaz F.C. during the 2004–05 season, both of whom play in Iran's Premier Football League. He has an impressive record at Pegah Gilan in the 2006–07 season, conceding only 2 goals in 19 appearances. He would often wear his Macedonia national team jersey during league matches.

After retiring as a player, Ilić was an assistant coach in Steel Azin F.C..[citation needed]

International career

He made his senior debut for Macedonia in a June 1997 FIFA World Cup qualification match against Iceland and has earned a total of 5 caps, scoring no goals. Ilić's fifth and final cap came in a 0-1 defeat against Paraguay on 13 November 2005.[2]

Personal life

Ilić can speak basic Persian.[citation needed]
