Shimelis Abdisa (Oromo: Shimallis Abdisaa; Amharic: ሽመልስ አብዲሳ) is an Ethiopian politician who is serving as the Deputy President of Oromia region of Ethiopia since April 2019. He is the de facto ruler of the region.[1][2][3]

Background

Shimelis Abdisa was born in Oromia, Ethiopia. Before his current appointment, he has served in various roles including chief of staff of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed.[4]
