Alister Smart (born 1934 Australia)[1] is a retired Australian actor, presenter and television director, mainly of soap opera/serials He is best known for his 25-year stint, as one of the original presenters on the Australian version of the pre-school children's programme, Play School from 1966 until 1991.[2]

Career

Acting and directing

He has appeared in guest roles in soap opera and made for TV movies from the early 1960s onwards You Can't See 'round Corners, Homicide. Division 4, The Sullivans and Cop Shop and had a prominent role as Duncan Hunter in the film version of the soap opera Number 96. His directing work from the early 1970s until retiring in 1994, includes the series Scattergood: Friend of All, Sons and Daughters, Richmond Hill, Prisoner and Blue Heelers.[3][4][5]
