Makhdoom Ahmed Mehmood (Urdu: مخدوم احمد محمود) is a prominent Pakistani politician belonging from District Rahim Yar Khan situated in South Punjab. He has been elected to the Punjab and National Assemblies on PML-F tickets. In the end of 2012, President Asif Ali Zardari declared him Governor-designate of Punjab.[3]

Early life

Ahmed Mehmood was born in 1961. His father was Makhdoom Syed Hassan Mehmood, a politician who was elected as opposition leader. Ahmed Mehmood's grandfather was Makhdoom Ghulam Meeran Shah, who was a Sufi saint.

On 25 December 2012 he took oath as 29th Governor of Punjab. He resigned from the post of the governor on 13 May 2013 after PML-N swept the elections but president rejected the resignation.[4][5][6]
