John Giannandrea is a Scottish[1] software engineer known for creating Metaweb and Freebase and leading Google Search and artificial intelligence[1] before joining Apple Inc. as a senior executive.[2][3][4][5] In December 2018, it was announced that Giannandrea had been appointed senior vice president of Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence Strategy at Apple.[6]
He was formerly CTO of the speech recognition company Tellme Networks, which he co-founded, Chief Technologist of the web browser group at Netscape and a senior engineer at General Magic.[7]
