Adrian Morejón Garcia (born February 27, 1999) is a Cuban professional baseball pitcher for the San Diego Padres of Major League Baseball (MLB).
Career
Morejón played in the 2014 15U Baseball World Cup, and was named the tournament's most valuable player. He appeared in the Cuban National Series for Mayabeque that year. He defected from Cuba in October 2015.[1]
Morejón signed with the San Diego Padres for $11 million in July 2016.[2] He made his professional debut in 2017, spending time with both the Tri-City Dust Devils and the Fort Wayne TinCaps, posting a combined 3-4 record with a 3.86 ERA in 13 starts between both clubs.[3] He spent 2018 with the Lake Elsinore Storm, going 4-4 with a 3.30 ERA in 13 starts.[4] He began 2019 with the Amarillo Sod Poodles.[5] Morejón was named to the 2019 All-Star Futures Game.[6]
On July 21, 2019, the Padres selected Morejón's contract and promoted him to the major leagues.[7] He made his major league debut that day versus the Chicago Cubs.[8]
