Torkman Valley (or Dare-ye Torkman, Dari: درهٔ ترکمن, Hazaragi: درهٔ تُرکمُن) is a valley in Afghanistan located in Surkhi Parsa District of Parwan Province which is inhabited with ethnic Hazara. They speak Hazaragi Persian language and practice shia islam.[1][2]
Etymology
The name of this valley is derived from the Turkmani, one of the tribes of the Hazara people.[3]
Tribes
There are four tribes in the Turkman Valley, Mansoor (Dawlat Khani and Ali Khani), Allah Dad, Kheider and Sherak.
Demographics
The population of the Turkman valley is generally composed of the ethnic hazara.[3]
History
The Turkman Valley located in Parwan Province was founded by four brothers Mansoor, Shehr, Allahdad & Kheider.
