The Nawayaths speak a dialect of Konkani called Nawayathi. It is an amalgam of Persian, Arabic, Marathi, Punjabi, Portuguese and Hindi, with Konkani as its base. The Navayath language uses Persian script for writing. "Persian script" was being used to write by the Nawaythis long before the language Urdu came into existence.
