McLaurin was drafted by the Washington Redskins in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft.[10][11] This move reunited him with his former college quarterback, Dwayne Haskins, who the Redskins selected earlier in the same draft. He signed his four-year rookie contract with the team on June 6, 2019.[12] McLaurin made his playing debut in the opening game of the 2019 season against the Philadelphia Eagles. There, he recorded five catches for 125 yards, including a 69-yard touchdown.[13] In Week 2 against the Dallas Cowboys, McLaurin caught five passes for 62 yards and one touchdown.[14] In Week 3 game against the Chicago Bears, McLaurin caught six passes for 70 yards and one touchdown.[15] This made him the first player in league history to catch at least five passes and a touchdown in their first three career games.[16] In Week 6 against the Miami Dolphins, McLaurin caught four passes for 100 yards and two touchdowns as the Redskins won their first game of the season 17-16.[17] During Week 15 against the Eagles, McLaurin finished with five catches for 130 receiving yards, including a 75-yard touchdown as the Redskins lost 27–37.[18] He finished the season with 58 receptions for 919 yards and seven touchdowns, and was named to the PFWA All-Rookie Team.[19]
