Destination Maternity Corporation (NasdaqDEST) (formerly Mothers Work, Inc.) is the world's largest designer and retailer of maternity apparel[citation needed]. It is based in Moorestown, New Jersey.[1]

As of November 3, 2018, Destination Maternity operates 1,108 retail locations in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico, including 474 stores, predominantly under the trade names Motherhood Maternity, A Pea in the Pod and Destination Maternity, and 634 leased department locations. The Company also sells merchandise on the web. Destination Maternity has international store franchise and product supply relationships in the Middle East, South Korea, Mexico, Israel and India. As of November 3, 2018, Destination Maternity has 187 international franchised locations, including 10 standalone stores operated under one of the Company's nameplates and 177 shop-in-shop locations.

On October 21, 2019, Destination Maternity filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and said they would begin closing 183 stores.[2]

Collections

In 2009, Destination Maternity partnered with the National Football League to offer NFL football maternity t-shirts, sweatpants, and baby clothes at Motherhood Maternity stores.[3] In 2010, a similar partnership was announced to offer MLB baseball maternity t-shirts and baby clothes.[4]

In 2010, Destination Maternity launched two maternity-wear collections from Heidi Klum. Lavish by Heidi Klum for A Pea in the Pod features more high-end items, while Loved by Heidi Klum for Motherhood Maternity features affordable options.[5]

In 2012, the company launched a maternity clothing collection from Jessica Simpson,[6] "available in 700 retail locations, including Motherhood Maternity, Destination Maternity, as well as Destination Maternity shop-in-shops within Macy’s.".[7]

Other recent collaborations include a collection from Nicole Richie in 2009,[8] a collection from Disney in 2010 [9] and a collection for Rosie Pope in 2012.[10] In 2015, A Pea in the Pod collaborated with Rachel Zoe and worked with Molly Sims on their exclusive LED (Luxe Essentials Denim) Collection.
