Westminster House is a commercial facility on Portland Street, Manchester.
History
The building, which was designed by Fitzroy Robinson & Partners and built at the cost of £4.5 million (£47,680,000 as of 2024),[1] was completed in 1973.[2] It served as the headquarters of Greater Manchester County Council from the council's formation in 1974 until its abolition in 1986.[3][4] However the full county council would meet at Manchester Town Hall.[5] The building, which was originally referred to as County Hall, was sold to Parc Securities in 1988[5] and to County Hall Properties in 1990.[5] It was renamed Westminster House in the 1990s and extensively refurbished in 2016.[6]
