Miguel Ángel López Castro (born March 25, 1997) is a Cuban volleyball player. He competed for the Cuba men's national volleyball team at the 2016 Summer Olympics.[1][2]

Early life

Lopez Castro was born in Cienfuegos Province, Cuba, the youngest of 3 children of Elcida Juana Castro and Miguel Angel Lopez Martinez. His interest in volleyball began at the age of seven, when he saw footage of former Cuban star Joel Despaigne and his jumping ability. By the age of nine Lopez started his formation in a sport center of his province. By the age of 18 he was selected among other young players to the national volleyball centre "Escuela National de Voleibol" in Havana, as one of the top promises in the country.
