St. Louis City Hall was designed on July 19, 1890. It was modeled after the city hall in Paris, and was not completed until 1904, just in time for the St. Louis World's Fair. The interior is decorated with marble and gold trim. There are murals on the Market Street and Clark Avenue entrances.[1]

The offices of the Mayor, and Board of Aldermen and St. Louis Department of Public Safety are housed here. The majority of government meetings occur here, most of which are open to the public. It was designated a St. Louis City Landmark in 1971.[2]
