James Anderson Merchant (born August 30, 1950) is a former catcher in Major League Baseball. He batted left-handed and threw right-handed. Merchant was drafted by the Boston Red Sox in 1972 and played in a total of three major league games for the team in 1975 and 1976, collecting two hits and scoring one run.

Andy attended Murphy High School in Mobile, AL. He then attended and graduated from Auburn University and was drafted in the 10th round of the 1972 June amateur draft by the Boston Red Sox.

Merchant currently resides in Malcolm, Alabama.
